As the first pipeline construction business in Oregon and one of the first to employ horizontal directional drilling, we have been providing services to the Portland metro region since 1957. Since then, we have focused on constructing underground utility infrastructure throughout the Pacific Northwest!

Position Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety compliance of all operations within the organization. This role involves developing safety protocols, conducting training sessions, and promoting a culture of safety among employees while working on various construction projects, particularly in underground utility construction environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for all employees, focusing on underground construction, electrical, gas, and power operations.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project managers and teams to ensure safety measures are integrated into project plans and operations.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences, including shoring-related incidents.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices to ensure the organization is compliant and safe.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Manager or similar role in the construction industry, preferably in civil or underground utility construction.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to civil and construction operations.
  • Certification in safety training programs and relevant safety certifications a plus (e.g., CSP, CHST).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively promote a culture of safety.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports for management review.
