Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician
Location: Vista, CA 92081
Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday – Friday, 3 pm – 11:30 pm (will train for about a month on 1st shift)
Duration: Full-time, direct hire
Pay: $33 - $34/hour + $2 for 2nd shift differential
Position Summary
Participates in a wide variety of advanced skilled, journey level duties for preventative and corrective maintenance involved in the installation, fabrication, maintenance, repair and servicing of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, equipment, devices and Industrial equipment. (e.g. mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, fabrication, electrical systems including motors and motor controls and CNC/PLC control systems). The individual must be able to plan and coordinate improvements to equipment and perform duties in compliance with Safety and Maintenance programs including but not limited to, LOTO, Arc Flash prevention, Fall prevention program, Total Productive Maintenance.
Responsibilities
1. Keep production equipment and building systems operating as needed with scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled servicing and repairs as required.
2. Plan and coordinate improvements to equipment as needed to improve safety, quality, productivity and reduce operating costs.
3. Input necessary data in compliance with safety and maintenance programs.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following skillsets through hands on demonstration as well as written test; mechanical systems, pneumatic/hydraulic, plumbing, fabrication (machining / welding), rigging, electrical systems including basic electrical, motors and motor controls and CNC/PLC control systems) and robotics. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be able to diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems and components. Must understand and be able to explain basic electrical theory including OHMS law, how to test and troubleshoot a motor and motor controls and be able to demonstrate understanding of simple circuits both AC and DC up to 480 Volts. Must be able to size and install new electrical circuits.Must understand and be able to explain basic fluid power principals (hydraulics and pneumatics) such as the difference between flow and pressure and how to calculate force of a cylinder. Must understand and be able to explain basic mechanical principles such as how to change the speed of a rotating assembly and how to calculate force needed to move an object. Must have fabrication skills including the ability to perform repair welding, and basic drilling, bolting and torquing for various fasteners. Must be able to lead and participate in the design and fabrication of a variety of brackets, supports and other metal structures. Must be able to assist with the planning, authoring and implementing of PMs for various pieces of equipment. Must be able to use reasoning to advise management if continued operation of a piece of equipment could be hazardous. Must be able to prepare and review work orders, material requisitions, reports and other documentation.
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), at least 7+ years maintenance mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. The individual must be able to interface with co-workers, internal departments, service providers, and customers in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, owner’s operating manual, and service procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
