Job Description

Avoca Search is excited to partner with the Nephrology Center of Maryland in their search for a Practice Administrator . This leadership role requires strong management, financial, and operational expertise to ensure efficiency, compliance, and an outstanding patient experience.

The Practice Administrator is the key administrative position of the Nephrology Center of Maryland responsible for the day-to-day effective and efficient operation of the Physician Practices and offices. The Practice Administrator is responsible for ensuring smooth clinical operations, efficient billing operations, and managing and addressing physical plant and information technology (IT) services for the practice. This position reports to and collaborates with the managing partner for the practice.

The Nephrology Center of Maryland consists of 16 providers, 11 physicians and 5 advanced practice providers (APPs) and 8 office staff, and has two office sites located in Baltimore, MD and Fallston, MD. Services are equally split between the two locations. The Center provides services for acute kidney injury, chronic & end-stage kidney disease, high blood pressure, kidney stones, and pre- & post-transplant services.

Ideal candidates for this role will have the following:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive responsibility in physician practice management is required. Oversight of multiple physician practices, offices or clinics is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of electronic health record (EHR), medical billing codes, practice management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, billing and insurance policies, HIPPA regulations and healthcare laws.
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Analytical and communication skills for statistical and financial reporting.
  • Superior financial management skills and budgeting experience.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills. Must be able to motivate, delegate tasks, and manage a diverse team of staff.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
