About The Role

  • As a Process Safety Specialist, you will provide support to the operations in all areas of Environment, Health and Safety working under the direction of the Chief Sustainment Officer. Focus will be on undertaking assurance activities to minimize the risk of exposures and non-compliance, working closely with operations personnel to drive a high standard of EHS commitment and performance, and always promoting a positive EHS culture through ensuring high visibility on the plant and having an engaged approach to all EHS matters.

Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor's degree (master’s is a plus) in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental technology or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job-related experience: field/operational OSHA experience in a manufacturing or refinery environment
  • Some knowledge of the following EHS governing bodies reporting processes and standards would be useful:
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA)
  • National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Demonstrate fluent understanding of Hazard Communication.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Competence in collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in field knowledge of metal mining, refining, petrochemical, and/ or similar industrial settings (Preferred).

What You'll Do

  • Plan and administer environmental health and safety programs for the plant.
  • Take an active role in ensuring that the incident and near miss reporting process is functional and effective, applying suitable approaches to presenting and learning from the data acquired to reduce risk.
  • Establish and implement techniques for periodic and systematic evaluation (i.e., auditing) of hazard control and hazard control program effectiveness.
  • Undertake plant inspections as per the EHS work program and management system.
  • Act as the key deliverer of all plant based EHS monitoring programs (such as dust and noise).
  • Respond to operational requests for EHS support, providing accurate and timely advice.
  • Working with the EHS Team, ensure the site Personal Protective Equipment supply and protocols are working effectively, providing the necessary protection.
  • Help with the development, review, and conduct applicable regulatory training, including new employee training (as specified by position).
  • Play a key role in delivering a proactive and vibrant EHS communications strategy in the plant.
  • Ensure that impartial and unbiased assessments are made, with the objective of improving compliance on the plant and delivering high standards of EHS performance.
  • Compile, analyze data, and present findings to leadership regarding EHS metrics, measures, and statistics.
  • Attend EHS committees, providing technical input as requested either as Key Performance Indicators or through other means of sharing performance information.
  • Help to develop the EHS management system through writing new procedures and enhancing existing procedures as required.
  • Support the EHS Team with regulatory visits and other related work requirements.
  • Develop and improve the environmental aspects and impacts register, with support from the EHS Team.
  • Improve process knowledge through taking part in HAZOPs and other process-related risk processes, being prepared to act as scribe when required.
  • Ensure good record keeping within the EHS function and support the submission of all external documentary commitments.
  • Keep appraised of current knowledge, techniques and approaches through a culture of self-development, supported by the Company.
  • The ability to read and interpret manuals, reports, governmental regulations, directives, journals, policies, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

100,000 - 125,000 USD per year(Lawton, OK)
